A fire broke out in the downtown area in front of JR Omiya Station in Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture, in the early hours of the 27th morning, and firefighting efforts are still ongoing.
At around 6.30 am, a male passerby called 119 to report that: “The hardcover on the outdoor the building is burning in Daimon-Cho, Omiya-Ku, Saitama City”
According to police and other authorities, the fire is believed to have spread to nearby buildings. Twenty-one fire engines, including pump trucks, have been mobilized, and firefighting efforts are ongoing.
So far, there has been no information on people who failed to escape or were injured.
The police and firefighters will investigate the cause of the fire after it is completely extinguished.
The scene is a busy shopping area lined with pubs and other establishments at the east exit of JR Omiya Station.
