On 27 December of last year, a 27-year-old mother was arrested for leaving her 9-month-old child in a car at a supermarket parking lot in Takamatsu City. The child was left there for approximately 3,5 hours starting from 8:20 AM.
The mother was working at the supermarket during that time when a passerby found the boy left alone in the car and reported the incident to the police. The boy was taken to the hospital with mild dehydration but it was not life-threatening.
The mother admitted to the charges. She explained how she needed to go to work but had no one to watch over the child and thus decided to leave him alone in the car.
