Kanagawa Prefecture opens Free Line Counseling Service for Sexual Minorities

Kanagawa Prefecture has recently launched a program where sexual minorities can consult their concerns via Line. The initiative, which starts today, aims to support sexual minorities in their daily lives.

The program’s target audience includes those with concerns or anxieties about issues such as their gender identity, providing a system where they can easily receive consultation via LINE instead of through phone calls or face-to-face meetings.

By scanning the QR code available on the prefecture’s website and adding the service as a friend on LINE, users can chat to express their concerns and receive counseling from experts.

There is no need for reservation, consultations are free and anonymous, and the service is available every Monday and Saturday between 2 PM and 9 PM.

Ishii Yuriko, head of the Prefecture’s Coexistence Promotion Headquarters Office said: “We know that there are people who face psychological barriers when it comes to receiving consultation. Don’t try to keep everything to yourself and bear your worries alone; feel free to confide in us, even if it’s just a small worry.”
