2-year-old sister dies following boy's death, suspected heat stroke in the car, Kanagawa

Two children suspected of heat stroke in the car were transported to a park in Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture on 29 July, and followed by the death of the boy,  his older sister, a two-year-old girl, who was in critical condition, died on the morning of 2 August.

According to the police, at around 5 pm on 29 July, a mother in her 20s reported that her child was lying limp in the parking lot of Bosai No Oka Park in Atsugi City.

Two children in the car were taken to the hospital, presumed to be suffering from heat stroke, but the younger brother, a one-year-old boy, died.

The older sister, a two-year-old girl, who was also in critical condition, died at 4 am on 2 August.

When interviewed by the police, the mother said: "I let my children go to the park to play, but when I got to the park my children were sleeping, so I sat in the car with them for about 30 minutes, without turning on the air conditioner. I only open the window and constantly play with the phone, and then the most unfortunate consequences happen."
