At around 8 PM on the 25th, the fire department received a report of a house fire by a citizen living in Misato-cho, Kumamoto Prefecture.
Seven fire ambulances were dispatched to the scene and the fire was finally extinguished after 7 hours. However, it had completely burnt down the two-story wooden house, in which two bodies were found in the ruins.
The bodies as suspected to be that of the elderly couple in their 80s who had been living in the house, as police have been unable to contact them since the fire.
The police are investigating to confirm the identity of the deceased and find the cause of the fire.
The house is located in a mountainous area about 9 kilometers to the East of the Misato Town Hall Central Office.
