A woman in her 80s in Fukushima died of heat stroke due to sleeping without a fan or air conditioner

A woman in her 80s was taken to the hospital after found to have been suffering from heat stroke at her house in Sukugawa city, Fukushima prefecture. She passed away on the 29th. 

According to the Sukagawa District Fire Department of Fukushima Prefecture, at around 1 PM on the 29th, a resident of Sukagawa city reported to the fire department that their family member, who was in their 80s, had been suffering from a heat stroke since 5 AM and was losing consciousness. 

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found that the woman had lost consciousness. She was later pronounced to have passed away at the hospital where she was taken to. 

According to the fire department, although the woman was inside her house the whole night, she was diagnosed with heat stroke due to having slept only with the windows open instead of turning on the electric fan or air conditioner.
