Even though it's not as massive or hyped as nearby Tokyo or Yokohama, Kawasaki City in Kanagawa Prefecture still packs a punch with a population of 1.5 million. There's plenty to see and do here for a full day of fun.

How to get there

To reach Kawasaki, take the JR Tokaido line, an 18-minute ride from Tokyo Station or a mere 15 minutes from Yokohama Station.

5. Fujiko F. Fujio Museum

Down the road from Ikuta Ryokuchi Park, near Mukogaoka-yuen Station, you will find the Fujiko Fujio Museum, also called the Doraemon Museum. It's a tribute to the creator of the Doraemon manga series, featuring the lovable robotic cat from the 22nd century. The museum has three floors, all decked out in Doraemon style.
