A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of obstruction of business by falsifying his age to 17 to receive free food, and clothing from a Child Guidance Shelter in Nagoya.
The arrested suspect is a 28-year-old unemployed Takuya Fujiwara with no fixed address.
According to the police, back in June, Fujiwara had used a false name and lied that he was 17 years old in order to receive protection from a Child Guidance Shelter in Nakagawa Ward, Nagoya City.
The Child Guidance Center provides protection and support to those under 18 years of age. Fujiwara had been using fraudulent methods to receive free food, clothing, and shelter for approximately two months since last June.
According to the City of Nagoya, the Child Guidance Center had suspicions about Fujiwara and began to carry out investigations. They then discovered that the suspect was actually 28 years old by contacting his former place of employment. Fujiwara was arrested earlier today.
Fujiwara denied all charges, saying: “I am 17 years old so I don’t know what you are talking about.” The police are investigating the case in further detail.
