A commemorative event celebrating the 30th year since Gunma-chan began its activities as the mascot of Gunma prefecture was held in Maeshiba city. The event was held for two days at the Gunma Prefectural Office on the 28th and 29th and was attended by 103 local mascots from regions all across the country, including Kumamoto Prefecture’s well-known “Kumamon.”
The characters performed dances on stage to excite the crowd and interacted with families and fans by taking photos together. Various character merchandise were also available for sale at the event.
Gunma Prefecture revealed that the event welcomed over 40,000 people over the course of two days.
A high school girl visiting from Chiba Prefecture said: “It was my first time seeing Gunma-chan from up close, and its demeanor was so cute that I like it even more now. Everyone looked like they were having a lot of fun, and the atmosphere at the venue was also very pleasant.”
