On the 29th, after attending the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Japan’s education Minister Moriyama Masahito visited Ukraine to attend a bilateral meeting on the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, science, and technology. It was during the meeting that Moriyama Masahito informed Ukraine of the plan to accept a total of 100 government-funded Ukrainian international students over the next five years.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi stressed the importance of financial support from the Japanese government in the fields of education, science, and technology, and that their cooperation is proceeding rapidly.
Moriyama Masahito conveyed that Japan will accept a total fo 100 Ukrainian university students as government-funded international students over the next five years. The country also aims to promote exchanges among researchers, as well as will translate and present Japanese picture books into Ukraine.
After the meeting, Minister Moriyama told reporters that the Ukranian side had raised the question of how to cooperate on issues such as mental health for people returning from the war. He said that Japan will consider what can be done on their side based on the discussions held during the meeting.
It is said that the next meeting will be held by Japan.
