China launches eleven missiles off Taiwan, and five missiles fall on Japan's eez

On 4 April, the Chinese People's Liberation Army launched an 'important military exercise action' around Taiwan, firing 11 ballistic missiles, according to the Taiwanese side. The military pressure was intensified in retaliation for the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Pelosi's visit to Taiwan. The Japanese Government strongly protested against the Chinese side, saying that five of the missiles fell within Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ). This is the first time that Chinese ballistic missiles have fallen within Japan's EEZ. Deterioration of the regional security environment, including Japan, is inevitable.

The maneuvers were conducted in six air and sea areas encircling Taiwan, and large-scale live-fire drills were deployed until the 7th. The Chinese military's Eastern War Zone announced that rocket forces fired several missiles into the waters of eastern Taiwan, all hitting their targets.
