On October 6th and 7th, there were multiple reports of sightings of what appears to be a Japanese macaque in northern Tokyo. The Metropolitan Police Department has been patrolling the area and is urging citizens to stay away if they happen to encounter the monkey.
According to the police, just before 1 PM on October 6th, there was a report that “a monkey was walking” in Akabane, Kita Ward. More sightings of what is believed to be a Japanese macaque were reported throughout Kita Ward until around 6 PM of the following day.
It is believed that the monkey has been on the move as there were also multiple sighting reports in Itabashi Ward and Nerima Ward at around 1 PM on the 7th.
The Metropolitan Police Department is patrolling the area and has been warning citizens to keep away from the monkey if they encounter it.
