A 97-year-old man recklessly drove a car and killed a woman

On the 19th, a light passenger car hit a woman on the sidewalk on a municipal road in Fukushima City and collided with three cars that were waiting for a traffic light. Hitomi Kawamura, 42, who was walking on the sidewalk, died in this accident. Four people in the car that was hit suffered minor injuries.

Police have arrested Kuniyoshi Namishio (97), an unemployed resident of Fukushima City, on suspicion of causing death by negligent driving. According to the police, there were no brake marks at the scene because Namishio was driving on the sidewalk for several tens of meters. Cognitive function tests at the time of driver's license renewal showed no problems. Police have not released the identity of the suspect.
